Basic Aquatic Leadership Training

The Facility Management Section's Aquatic Division will be hosting a Basic Leadership Training at the Hanover Park Park District on Wednesday, May 21st from 11:00am-2:30pm. The cost will be $30 per participant, and lunch is included. This training course is designed for pool managerial staff to help teach the fundamentals of running an Aquatic Facility.

Participants will gain valuable training on dealing with issues pertaining to staff, patrons, facilities, emergency action planning and training, etc. Though this training will satisfy the Ellis and Associates requirement for “Basic Leadership Training,” it is designed to benefit pool managers of all other certifications including Red Cross and Starfish Aquatics.

ITRS Day Camp Workshop

Session #1 (Choose 1 of 2 options)
Indoor / Outdoor Activities – We will learn a variety of new activities and refresh a few old ones with this session. We will practice our rainy day skills, and learn fun sunny day skills too!

Use What you Have – What do you do with all that ‘stuff’ in your camp bin? What can be done with the supplies you have on hand? Learn to stretch your programming imagination in this session.

Session #2 (Everyone Attends) Adaptations – Our speaker will introduce a wide variety of program adaptations. You will learn the tricks of the trade for adapting activities to fit a broad spectrum of campers.

Session #3 (Choose 1 of 3 Options) Worst Case Scenario – We will discuss the Good the Bad and the Ugly of camp. We will discuss our most frightening camp tales…and how we lived to tell the story.

Lesson Planning - Camp is coming, are you ready? You have 234 hours of fun in the sun with your campers!!! What are you going to do with it? This session will give you a plan for structure for those 234 hours, and some great ideas to help fill all that time.

Inclusion – It’s as easy as Peanut Butter and Jelly – We will discuss the topic of inclusion in a park district progam and how to successfully include an individual in special needs into a park district program.
